PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

It is with excitement and a bit of nerves that I introduce myself as your new Interim Acting Principal.  I do not take this opportunity lightly and look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with you in continuing to create an exceptional teaching and learning community for all. I am thankful to Superintendent Julia Bove for this incredible opportunity and as she introduced me to the SLT Team yesterday, I shared a bit about myself and my journey, so far.  I met with Ms. Jarrett and as we toured the building and she shared the initiatives in place and successful progress you have all made, I realized that everything that I believe and am passionate about has been a focus here.  It is clear that Ms. Jarrett is passionate about what she does and this school and her support during this transitional period is appreciated.   

I do intend to observe for the necessary timeframe, work collaboratively with you and students to tweak those areas that need tweaking and to build on the tremendous progress our school community has made thus far.  I also met with Assistant Principals Hammel and Thomas, and I am excited about working with them. It is clear that they are hard-working and devoted to our school.  I am grateful to have Ms. Bruno, Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. Paraskevadis in the office, as I am sure you are, as well.  They have opened the doors to me and have been extremely supportive. 

A bit about me: I am, admittedly, a math geek and enjoy talking with student and staff about math. I taught math at the Middle and High School level for 10+ years before transitioning to a leadership position in 2013 at the Joseph F. Lamb School (P.S./ I.S. 206), right here in district 22.  My last leadership position was at the Dock Street School for STEAM Studies (M.S. 313) in DUMBO Brooklyn.  I am happy to return to district 22! 

I have led with and will continue to lead with honesty and integrity.  I am passionate about children and will put them at the center of our conversations and planning.  I have high expectations and work diligently for every member of our community.  My door is always open to you and welcome your thoughts about how to make Hudde even better.  I believe the highest form of leadership is service and I look forward to serving this community!
